This is long, but you all can practice your CSI skills.
Those of you with up-to-date progarms will recall that the first full week of October we adopted Ratticat from our neighbor, Mike.
You may also recall that two weeks prior we took Rocket in, and that we already had Jack.
Once Rocket had his mittens off, he decided that he owned the house and has spent a lot of time being just plain mean to Jack.
Since Jack and Rocket are both declawed, Mike took Ratti to the vet, and we kept her sequestered until her mittens came off. I brought Ratti home from the vet on a Friday, and everything was fine until Monday. Oh, there was the usual hissing and stuff, but all in all they were getting along OK.
Then on Monday I noticed that the door to the third floor was opened a bit. That's a bad thing, because one of the dormer windows doesn't latch and the glazing gave up the ghost, so any strong wind breaks another pane of glass. We had it barricaded with cardboard and a suitcase, but a curious cat could easily get around it.
Rocket chased Ratti upstairs and she just disappeared. I searched every nook and cranny of the third floor. Checked the closet and storage areas. Looked under the dressers that are up there. Looked in the drawers. Poof! Gone like smoke.
We made the assumption that she'd gotten out on the roof, jumped into the tree next to the house and gone on to find <s>other suckers</s> a new home.
This morning Trav and I decided to straighten up the third floor, measure and order new windows. Since Erin moved out in May of '03, we've been upstairs only to switch out of season clothes.
There are two connecting rooms up there, and the stairs come into what Anthony and Erin used as a living room. On the back side of the house there is a storage area in each room under the eaves. Great for storage, but not really a closet. Erin deemed them "cubbys".
Since Erin moved, we've been using the floor as storage space, so I decided today to put things away. I opened the cubby on the northeast side of the house to find Ratti staring at me.
We've looked and looked and looked and can find no entrance or exit points. She came of the cubby dusty and not as clean as she'd been, but she's obviously been eating. She's not dehydrated. She used a flattened shopping bag as a litter box.
So, how does a declawed cat live on a roof for more than a month without notice? (We've looked because Tex got out there once.) How does a declawed cat catch birds?
Oh, did I mention that we used to have pigeons and doves roosting on the outside eaves?

I think we need to see a new picture of Ratti to make sure she isn't a space alien.

Too bad you dont have a tin roof, then when it's hot out you would have had a...

Perhaps you should rename Ratti as Pixel.

Cats are strange.
I have NO idea how Ratti did this.

The odd thing is that since she rejoined us on Saturday -- first sequestered again in the living room and solarium -- and then rejoining us on Sunday morning (after either I didn't fully latch the door or she opened it) -- she's acting like nothing happened.
5 weeks out.
Glossy coat.
Bright eyes.
If she could talk, I'd demand megamillions numbers.
